Inlet Works Odours
A treatment plant inlet works generally incorporates inlet flows and a grit removal and screening area. This area has a high potential to be odorous as the inflows are generally under pressure and can enter from a variety of directions at any given time.
There are two main strategies for dealing with inlet works odours:
- Isolate the inlet works and extract foul air through a filter
- Utilise an odour neutralising spray system to reduce odours
The best method is to isolate the flow by covering the inlet works and extracting flow through a filter. Properly designed, this system can provide for up to 99.8% removal of inlet works odours. OCS treatment options include:
If you are unable to seal the inlet works, or there are other factors that rule out this option, a well designed odour neutralising spray system with an appropriate AirSolution can provide you with up to 80% removal of inlet works odours.
