Sewer Pump Station Odours

Sewer pump station odours are common and, as with sewer manholes, they are caused from septic effluent which results in the formation of H2S in solution. When this effluent is aerated, for example when it drops into the pump station or manhole or when it is pumped into the main, it diffuses out of solution and into the atmosphere. The level of odour is proportional to the level of H2S in the effluent stream and the level of turbulence.

Fortunately sewer pump station odours are the easiest to treat and OCS have developed a large range of treatment options, including:

If fat and grease build up is also a problem, OCS can help you reduce odours and clean well walls automatically with the McBerns Auto Well Washer.
