Wastewater Odours

Issues associated with wastewater odours are not new. With populated areas increasing and residential areas encroaching more and more on sewerage infrastructure, these issues are becoming more prominent. Combine this with a reduced tolerance for odours and it results in a significant increase in odour complaints.

Even at relatively low levels, H2S can result in unacceptable odour. The presence of this odour in sewerage infrastructure such as pump stations, wet wells and treatment plants also suggests that valuable assets are being subjected to concrete corrosion from acid attack.

The OCS methodology for odour control is simple: the best option is always treating the source of the problem. This means treating the liquid waste stream to reduce the level of nuisance odours and damaging corrosion. The most effective way to achieve this is through chemical dosing directly into the sewerage system with a product that has a proven track record, accompanied by monitoring of the sewerage system so that results can be evaluated.

We understand that this is not always possible or practicable, and our 20 years of experience has led us to a large range of odour control technologies specifically designed for wastewater odours.
