Activated Carbon Filters
Activated carbon is commonly used for odour control as it has an amazing ability to adsorb contaminants from a variety of waste streams. Carbons can also be impregnated with a range of other chemicals which help increase the removal efficiency of certain compounds, for example, caustic impregnated activated carbon works very well on H2S and mercaptans in moist air streams.
Odour Control Systems can design, supply and install activated carbon filters suitable for dealing with a large range of odour issues. Our filters range from simple 200 litre drum carbon canisters to larger and more complex custom built units.
An activated carbon unit typically consists of four main components:
- Prefilter - removes excess fats and condensate
- Fan / Blower - provides required air extraction
- Activated Carbon Adsorber - adsorbs contaminants
- Vent Stack - expels treated air at height
Activated carbon systems can also be installed with a variety of monitoring and control equipment to ensure the required system performance is achieved.
